IAF chief, Union Home Secy briefs J&K Guv on rescue, relief

IAF chief Arup Raha and Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami on Tuesday briefed Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on the rescue and relief operations in the flood-ravaged state.

Srinagar: IAF chief Arup Raha and Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami on Tuesday briefed Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on the rescue and relief operations in the flood-ravaged state.

"The Air Chief, who was accompanied by General Officer Commanding of Army's 15 Coprs Lt Gen Subrata Saha and Air Officer Commanding Srinagar Air Force Station, Air Commander Balachandran, discussed with the Governor various important issues relating to relief and rescue operations underway in the Jammu and Valley regions," a Rajbhawan spokesman said.

The spokesman said the Governor conveyed gratitude to the Army and Air Force for the prompt and outstanding efficiency with which they had come to the rescue of the affected people at all the affected places in the state.

Vohra also received a detailed briefing from Goswami during a meeting earlier in the day.

The Union Home Secretary has been in the Valley for the past few days to assist and support the state government.

Earlier, the Governor was briefed by Lt Gen Saha about the multiple steps being taken by the Army and the Air Force in coordination with state government agencies to launch rescue operation all over the Valley.

After the briefing, the Governor undertook an aerial reconnaissance of the flood areas.

The spokesman said the Governor is receiving daily reports about the relief measures currently underway.
