Srinagar, Nov: Prof Radha Kumar, one of three
interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday said the Centre had
assured them that it would implement any solution, emerging
out of their on-going exercise, on resolution of the Kashmir
problem.
"We had asked for an assurance from the government on
implementing the solution (emerging from the exercise of the
interlocutors) and we have got it," Kumar told reporters in
Anantnag town, 55 kms from here.
She said the aim of the interlocutors was to find a
comprehensive solution to the Kashmir problem acceptable to
all regions and communities in the state.
Earlier, Kumar and other interolocutor Information
Commissioner M M Ansari interacted with several political
activists and leaders of minority communities.
A Pahari delegation demanded Scheduled Tribe status
for their community while political delegations, including
that of the ruling National Conference, focused on resolving
the Kashmir issue.
Some of the delegates raised the issue of violation of
human rights in the south Kashmir region.
"We had wide-ranging discussions with leaders of
political parties and communities. We heard their problems,
their views on human rights and political issues," Kumar said.
The two interlocutors arrived on their second visit to
the state Tuesday and have so far interacted with delegations
in Leh, Kargil, Baramulla and border town Uri.
They are scheduled to visit other areas in the Valley
tomorrow before they submit their report to Home Minister P
Chidambaram.
The interlocutors arrived here last month on their
first visit but the separatists have refused to meet them
saying it was a "futile" excercise.
