Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated disciplinary action against 70 government employees for unauthorised absence from duty.

"Disciplinary action has been ordered against 70 officers and officials found absent from duty in Budgam district on May 21 (yesterday)," an official spokesman said.
The spokesman said surprise inspection of various district offices was carried out by additional District Development Commissioner Budgam and 70 employees were found unauthorisedly absent from duties.
Government attendance in most government offices yesterday was thin as public transport was off roads in Kashmir due to a strike call given by moderate Hurriyat Conference to commemorate the death anniversaries of its two slain leaders.
