Srinagar: A militant was on Wednesday killed in
an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of North
Kashmir`s Baramulla district, officials said here.
Security forces launched a search operation in
Arampora locality of Sopore town, 55 kms from here, following
information about the presence of the militant there, they
said.
As the security forces closed in on the house where
the militant was hiding, the ultra ran into a nearby mosque
and opened fire, they said.
The security forces cordoned off the area and a brief
exchange of firing between the two sides ensued, they said.
As there was no hostile firing for more than an hour,
few civilians entered the mosque and found the militant dead,
