Jammu: A three-member team of Pakistani officials dealing with the Indus Water Treaty is arriving in Jammu on Sunday to inspect the design and the site of a proposed artificial lake here.

The lake is to be constructed by using the waters of river Tawi, which is a tributary to river Chenab, one of the three rivers, two others being Jhelum and Indus - which flow from Jammu and Kashmir into Pakistan.

Pakistan under the World Bank-brokered Indus Water Treaty of 1960 is authorised to monitor the usage of the waters of these rivers on the Indian side.

According to official sources, the Pakistani team would be in Jammu for three days and examine all the records, the site of the proposed lake and also the water flow of river Tawi which passes through Jammu city.
