Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar
Abdullah on Wednesday said Pakistan has to play a vital role in
creating a peaceful atmosphere in India.
"The firing incidents at Indo-Pak borders have adverse
effect on the people living on borders and as a good
neighbour, Pakistan has to play a vital role in turning these
areas as abode of peace and tranquility," Abdullah said at a
public meeting here after laying the foundation stone of
Kunjwani-Satwari road.
Pakistan has always promised that they will not allow
their land to be used for any terror activity and it is
expected that they will prove their determination and fulfill
their promise, the chief minister said.

"It is an universal fact that friends can be replaced,
but neighbours cannot be changed and the same holds true with
respect to India and Pakistan," he said.

"Therefore, it is in the best interest of Pakistan as a
good neighbour to extend hand of friendship at this very
juncture when Indo-Pak talks are scheduled so that both the
countries are able to reap the fruits of amicable
co-existence," Abdullah said.
