Policemen having cases against them got gallantry awards in J&K

Eleven policemen including three Senior Superintendent of Police who were conferred the President Medal for Gallantry Award have civil and criminal cases against them in the state.

Senior Superintendent of Police who were conferred the
President Medal for Gallantry Award have civil and criminal
cases against them in the state, said Jammu and Kashmir chief
minister in the Assembly on Tuesday.

Out of the 11 cops having cases against them, there
are three SSPs, one deputy superintendent of police, two
inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector, one head constable
and three selection grade constables.

For example former SSP Manohar Singh who has several
other awards also to his name was arrested for fudging
evidence in a murder case in Jammu in 2009.

Similarly, former Deputy Superintendent of Police
Operation Ganderbal Bahadur Ram, who got the award in 2005 was
booked in a cash-for-killing case in Batmaloo area of Srinagar
in 2007, in which two other policemen Farooq Ahmed and Manzoor
Ahmed are also involved.
