New Delhi: As Jammu and Kashmir faced a fractured verdict in the Assembly polls, CPI(M) on Tuesday expressed the hope that secular forces would form the government in the state to keep BJP at bay.

"We hope that the government will be formed by a combination of secular forces. This is all the more necessary in view of the sharpened communal polarisation that the RSS- BJP are currently indulging in," senior party leader Sitaram Yechury said.

He also congratulated the people for returning CPI(M)'s Jammu and Kashmir unit Secretary Mohd Yusuf Tarigami from the Kulgam seat to the new Assembly.
