Theme based model for welfare of artisans

J&K government will prepare a theme-based development model for the welfare of artisans with a focus on community-centric initiatives.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government will prepare a theme-based development model for the welfare of artisans with a focus on community-centric initiatives, officials said Monday.

Chief Secretary Madhav Lal has directed the officials to identify small pocket areas of traditional artisan communities for their socio-economic development.

Lal was chairing a meeting on development of artisan areas and clusters in interior city known as `Shehar-i-Khas’ Sunday, they said.

"For the model to be a success, organised and active participation of the craftsman and members of local artisan community should be ensured and their specific problems addressed," Lal said.

All available resources under various schemes should be converged and respective departments should prepare micro-plans for addressing specific needs for the overall development of the areas where the craft is located, Lal said.
