Three of jawan`s family die of asphyxiation in J-K

Three members of the family of an Army jawan died of asphyxiation after sleeping in a room with a fire stove in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here on Sunday.

said here on Sunday.

Four members of the family of Mohmmad Mushtaq of 12
Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry, posted in Uri belt of
Baramulla sector of Kashmir valley, were sleeping in their
house in village Thanamang of Darhal tehsil in Rajouri
district, they said.

They had lit an earthen fire stove (engheeti) to keep
the room warm, police said. When they did not come out till
late this afternoon, the parents of the jawan living close by
broke open the door of the house and room.

They found Mushtaq`s wife, 30-year-old Rafiqa Begum,
10-year-old daughter Abida Kouser, 8-year-old son Adnan Mustaq
and 2-year-old son Hamdan unconscious. The family members were
rushed to hospital, where Rafiqa, Abida and Adnan were
declared brought dead.

The two-year-old child was shifted to the Government
Medical College (GMC) today, police said, adding the family
members had died of due to asphyxiation.

Mushtaq was informed of the incident, police said. The
bodies were handed over to the parents of the jawan for
burial.
