Top Hizb militant slain

A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant was killed and an army jawan wounded in a fierce gunbattle between ultras and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir Saturday.

Jammu and Kashmir Saturday.

The slain Hizbul ultra, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Dar
alias Musharaf, was a self-styled district commander of the
outfit, army spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said.

Acting on a specific information that some militants
were hiding in village Malangpora-Awantipora, 30 kms from
here, security forces raided the place, he said.

In the ensuing gunfight, the militant was killed and
a jawan was wounded, the spokesman said.
