Srinagar: A top Hizbul Mujahideen militant
was killed and an army jawan wounded in a fierce gunbattle
between ultras and security forces in Pulwama district of
Jammu and Kashmir Saturday.
The slain Hizbul ultra, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Dar
alias Musharaf, was a self-styled district commander of the
outfit, army spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said.
Acting on a specific information that some militants
were hiding in village Malangpora-Awantipora, 30 kms from
here, security forces raided the place, he said.
In the ensuing gunfight, the militant was killed and
a jawan was wounded, the spokesman said.
