Youth injured in accidental firing in Kashmir; locals protest

Srinagar: A youth was injured in
"accidental firing" by an Army jawan triggering protests in
Lolab area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir here on Friday,
officials said.

Ishfaq Ahmad Ganaie was hit by a bullet in his right
leg after the service rifle of an Army jawan went off
accidentally at Hayatpora in Lolab, 130 kms from here, they
said.

Around 100 local residents gathered and started
protesting against the Army. They also demanded arrest of the
soldier involved in the incident, they said, adding senior
police officers have reached the spot and promised action
into the incident.
