Cong MLA suggests committee to initiate talk with Maoists

Congress MLA K N Tripathi on Friday demanded that Jharkhand government should set up a three-member committee to initiate talks with Maoists.

Ranchi: Congress MLA K N Tripathi on Friday
demanded that Jharkhand government should set up a
three-member committee to initiate talks with Maoists.

"The government has several times said they are
prepared for talks with the extremists, but there has been no
move nor any committee set up in this regard," Tripathi said
in the assembly.

He suggested setting up of the committee comprising
home secretary, a minister and the leader of the opposition so
that the grievances of the extremists could be heard in a
democratic manner.

Sixteen out of 24 states of Jharkhand are affected by
left-wing extremism.

Tripathi`s suggestion came in the wake of today`s
newspaper report which perpetrated telephonic talk between a
former minister and a naxalite.
