Ranchi: Ahead of the second phase assembly
polls on December two in Jharkhand, CPI (Maoist) has called
for a 48-hour state-wide bandh from Saturday midnight.
"Yes, we have the information. Security has been
tightened," Deputy Inspector General of Police R K Mallick
told a news agency.
When asked that the banned outfit was enforcing the bandh
to demand production of its South Chhotanagpur Zonal Committee
leader Ashok Mahto in a court, Mullick denied arrest of any
Maoist with that name.
The bandh call comes amid campaigning by various
political parties with their top leaders criss-crossing the
Maoist-infested areas.
The campaigning comes to an end on November 30.
