Speaker extends property declaration date for MLAs

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker C P Singh on Monday extended the property declaration date for MLAs to December 21.

Ranchi: Disappointed over the lukewarm
response by many MLAs in declaring their assets, Jharkhand
Assembly Speaker C P Singh on Monday extended the deadline to
December 21.

"It`s sad that only 20-22 MLAs have declared their
assets despite the (first) deadline was March 31, 2011," he
said on the first day of the winter session of the house.

"By December 21 the rest should submit their property
declarations with the assembly secretariat," Singh said.

"Tomorrow I will read out the names of the MLAs who
have not submitted their declarations," Singh said, adding
early submissions would enable sending the declarations to the
union law ministry on time.

Later, the newly elected member from Mandu
constitutency Jaiprakash Bhai Patel of JMM took oath as the
member of the house.
