BJP rebel legislators stay away from meeting

Bellary: Four BJP rebel
legislators on Saturday stayed away from a meeting convened by state
unit president K S Eswarappa to discuss ways to strengthen the
party in the district.

Despite the party revoking their suspension, G
Somasekhara Reddy, brother of jailed former minister and
mining baron G Janardhana Reddy, MLA H T Suresh Babu, MLA B
Nagendra and MLC Mruthyunjaya Jinaga did not attend Saturday`s
meeting of party workers.

Eswarappa had revoked the suspension of these legislators
on December 15, apparently to get their support for Chief
Minister D V Sadananda Gowda`s candidature, who would contest
the bypoll to the legislative council on December 22.

Eswarappa said Gowda will expand his ministry to fill
seven vacancies after the council bye-election and
representation would be given to Bellary district.

He said the doors of BJP are shut for rebel leader
B Sreeramulu, who recently humiliated the saffron party by
winning the Bellary (Rural) seat by a huge margin.

Eswarappa said the chief minister will hold a meeting
here on December 29 to review development works in the
district.

Sreeramulu has already ruled out his return to BJP and
declared he would soon float his new political party.
