Karnataka government on Friday declared nine more taluks as drought-hit, taking their total number to 99.

The nine taluks are: Bagepalli, Chikkodi, Ramdurg,
Shiggavi, Dharwad, Belur, Shirahatti, Badami and Hunagund,
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar said
briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting, chaired by
Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

As of November 2, there was a five per cent shortfall in
rainfall -- as against the normal 938.9 mm, the state received
894.9 mm.
