The Met Office has forecast rainfall in 24 of the 30 districts, while it rained in 26 districts on Thursday.

One person is suspected to have died in Kalaburgi district because of heat on Thursday, but this has not yet been confirmed.

"We cannot confirm if the death was due to heat or some other reason. We are waiting for the post mortem report," said Vipul Bansal, deputy commissioner of Kalaburgi district.

"Only one case of death is reported and it has to be confirmed. Other than this we do not have any reports of deaths due to heat wave in Karnataka," said Mula Anuradha, director, family health and welfare, Karnataka.

"We have instructed the DHOs to carry out public awareness campaigns about the heat wave, and we are sending the material," said Anuradha.

We also did not receive any reports of hospitalizations duet to heat in Karnataka, added Anuradha.

The total rainfall recorded in the state on Thursday was 5.8 mm - a surplus of 83 percent as compared to the seasona's average of 3.2 mm, officials said.

Bengaluru city and Airport Meteorological Office (AMO) Kempegowda Iinternational Airport Limited (KIAL) experienced 0.6 mm and 0.2 mm rainfall respectively on Thursday.

However, there was no rain in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bidar and Shivamogga districts on Thursday.

The weatherman said Bengaluru will see a cloudy sky with the possibility of rain or thundershowers on Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will hover around 22 degrees Celsius.

Thursday's maximum temperature here was 28.3 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average, while the minimum was 22.3 degrees Celsius, slightly above the season's average.
