Bangalore: A notorious rowdy was injured in a police firing in the city Thursday, police said.
Gurumurthy alias Balla was allegedly involved in various crimes, including attempt to murder, extortion, threatening and robbery, police said.
On a tip off, City Crime Bureau police intercepted his vehicle in Peenya and asked him to surrender. Police opened fire when the accused alongwith his associates tried to attack
them. A bullet hit Balla and he was admitted to Victoria Hospital, police said.
According to police, he has been operated upon and is "out of danger".
Hunt was on to nab his associates who fled in the melee, police said.
