A boy, who was admitted to a private hospital with
suspected symptoms of swine flu in Gulbarga passed away on
September 8, while a 60-year-old man died in a private
hospital on September 4 in Kolar and a 29 year-old-woman
became a victim of the swine flu in a private hospital in
Bangalore yesterday, health officials said.

The report of swab samples of the three received today
confirmed they suffered from H1N1 infections, they said.

Twenty-three positive cases of HIN1 were reported
yesterday including 18 cases in Bangalore and one each in
Belgaum, Dharwad, Raichur and two in Bijapur, taking the total
cases confirmed for Influenza A HIN1 to 760 in the state.

Tamil Nadu has done extremely
well in containing the spread of swine flu, which triggered
panic across the country, Union Minister of state for Health
and Family Welfare Minister S Gandhiselvan said today.

The Government, led by M Karunanidhi, had taken a series
of measures to treat the affected effectively, thus containing
the spread, he said inaugurating a new hospital in Coimbatore.

The entire world was shaken by the outbreak of pandemic,
which has triggered panic across India, he said the Centre had
also taken preventive measures to check its spread.

The country needed more doctors and medical colleges and
for this purpose it was necessary to relax some of the norms
for starting medical colleges, he said.

Lauding the medical expertise available in the country,
which matched international standards, Gandhiselvan wanted
youngsters aspiring to achieve in diverse fields to take up
medicine.

Tamil Nadu Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N Palanisamy
said the State Government was allocating substantial fund for
public health care. The health insurance scheme recently
introduced by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was a clear
indication of government`s concern for poor people.

The new hospital, VGM Hospital, was dedicated to treatment
of digestive disorders and liver diseases and endoscopic
surgeries, besides a research institute in gastroenterology,
Dr V G Mohan Pasad, its Managing Director, said.
