Air Marshal Jasbir Walia assumes charge

 Air Marshal Jasbir Walia on Monday assumed charge of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command.

Thiruvananthapuram: Air Marshal Jasbir Walia on Monday assumed charge of Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command.

The traditional Guard of Honour was presented by the air warriors.

He takes over as the 24th Air Officer commanding-in-Chief of SAC at a time when the Southern Air Command is poised for major operational inductions and associated infrastructural developments, an official release said here.

Air Marshal Jasbir Walia was commissioned in the fighter stream of the IAF on 15 Jun 1979. His operational experience includes flying all versions of MiG-21 aircraft, Jaguar aircraft and various trainer aircrafts.

He had held various important Command and Staff Appointments which include assignments such as Commanding Officer of a front line Jaguar Squadron and Station Commander of an operational base. He was awarded Vayusena Medal and Vishist Seva Medal.
