"Come join me in the sacred land of ISIS" - Missing Kerala youth invites his family

Kozhikode: Even as the security agencies are trying to trace 21 missing persons from Kerala, who are believed to have joined the Islamic State or the ISIS, one of them supposedly reached out to his sister recently, as per a media report.

As per Deccan Chronicle, Ashfaq Majeed, a native of Padanna in Kasaragod, contacted his sister and invited his mother, father and relatives to join him in the 'sacred land of the IS'.

He supposedly contacted his family on the secure online communication platform Telegram.

The Daily quoted his relatives as saying that Majeed first asked if everybody was doing fine and then got angry when his sister told him that he had made their life miserable.

Later he explained to them about the 'virtues' of the ISIS, the dreaded terror outfit.

However, the conversation ended abruptly.

His messages were tracked by cyber experts to Tora Bora mountain ranges of eastern Afghanistan. 

The mobile phone of Majeed's sister is now in the custody of the police.

Another youth contacts family, says 'I am a terrorist'

Earlier, another youth, 23-year-old Mohammad Marwan, had also contacted his family and had told them that he was in West Asia.

He had said in a message, as per media reports, "People may call me a terrorist. If fighting in the path of Allah is terrorism, yes I am a terrorist."

Marwan had added that he would return once his work with Islamic State to help persecuted Muslims in Kashmir, Gujarat and Muzaffarnagar was over.

His message was sent via the Telegram app in the last week of June.

21 people missing from Kerala suspected to have joined ISIS

21 people from Kerala have gone missing and are suspected to have links with ISIS. They may have gone to Syria and Afghanistan.

Among them, 17 are from Kasaragod and four from Palakkad,  Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had informed the state Assembly some time back.

He had added that the missing persons from Kasaragod included four women and three children and two women were among those missing from Palakkad.
