Kochi: With a view to resolve issues relating
to admission to post graduate courses in professional self
financing medical colleges in Kerala, a meeting of leaders of
all political parties would be held in Thiruvananthapuram on
Monday, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Saturday.
"Everyone should cooperate on the issue," Chandy told
reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
The government has been given the nod by the Kerala High
Court to admit students to 50 per cent merit quota seats in
these medical colleges, which the managements are opposing.
The pro-Left students unions have also launched violent
protests against the government`s policy on self financing
colleges.
Chandy said the UDF had not made any changes in its policy
with regard to admissions to self financing medical colleges
and was following the path of the previous LDF government.
Chandy said he failed to understand the reason for the
pro-Left students launching violent protests on the issue now.

Achutanandan and leaders of all political parties have been
invited for talks.
By ignoring social equity, no one could move forward, he
said adding that everyone must cooperate with the government.
Chandy had yesterday wanted the CPI-M and managements of
private self financing medical colleges to do a
self-introspection on their stand on the issue.
