Kottayam: Kerala congress (M), an ally
of United Democratic Front on Monday declared the complete list
of candidates contesting for the April 13 assembly election.
A total of 15 candidates will contest the election.
The party chairman K M Mani MLA will contest from Pala
constituency while Sitting MLA P C George from Poonjar.
Mons Joseph (Kaduthuruthy), Thomas Chazhikkadan (Ettumanoor),
Prof. N Jayaraj (Kanjirapally), Roshy Augusting (idukki),
Thomas Unniyadan (Irinjalakkuda), P J Joseph (Thodupuzha),
T U Kuruvila (Kothamangalam), Dr K C Joseph (Kuttanad),
C F Thomas (Changanacherry), Victor T Thomas (Thiruvalla),
Advocate K Kusalakumar (Alathur), Advocate Job Michael
(Thaliparambu) and Advocate Mohammed Iqbal (Perambra) are the
other contestants.
The party postponed the delcaration of the complete list
of candidates, originally scheduled for yesterday, by a day
as confusion continued over three seats alloted to KC(M) by
UDF namely Thaliparambu, Alathur and Perambra.
KC(M) has little base in the three constituencies.
The tussle over Thiruvalla between sitting MLA from
Kalloopara Joseph M Puthussery, who has lost his constituency
in the delimitation exercise and Victor T Thomas, who lost to
Mathew T Thomas in Thiruvalla in the previous election, too
continued without any immediate solution.
The party took a step of taking a referendum among party
leaders from the constituency. Leaders holding posts of
Mandalam presidents and upwards from 12 panchayats
participated in the opinion poll held at party headquarters
here yesterday.
