Kochi: A Catholic nun was found dead inside a well at her convent near Vagamon in Iddukki district of Kerala early Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Stella Maria.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart convent at Uluppuni, around 10 kilometeres from Vagamon.
A huge contingent of district police are at the spot even as investigations have begun into the nun's mysterious death.
It is not for the first time a nun has died under mysterious circumstances in Kerala.
In September this year, 69-year-old nun Sister Amala was murdered in her room at the Carmel Convent in Pala near Kottayam. The Kerala Police later arrested one Satheesh Babu in connection with the case.
However, the most famous such case was that of Sister Abhaya. She was also found dead in a well at the St Pius X convent in Kottayam in 1992.
