Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday visited and consoled the relatives of Venkitaraj, a native of Poojapura near here, who died in the submarine accident at Mumbai.

He consoled Venkitaraj`s father TV Ramakrishnan Potti, mother Vasundaradevi and other relatives.

Chandy said Navy and other defence agencies were doing their best to bring mortal remains of Venkitaraj to Thiruvananthapuram.

"Government is ready to extend any help at any time to the family," he said.

It is indeed a heartbreaking thing that Malayalees were also involved in the accident that shook the nation, he said, adding, Government too joins family`s grief.

Vekitaraj was one among the four Keralities out of the 18 sailors who went down when submarine Sindhurakash exploded and sank at Mumabi coast on August 14.
