Kottayam: A senior Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) official was suspended today for allegedly raising problems of the debt-ridden entity at a public function attended by state Finance Minister K M Mani.
KSRTC ordered suspension of its District Transport Officer George Thomas who allegedly tried to bring to the Minister's notice the problems faced by the corporation in the district, including shortage of staff, while presenting his welcome speech at a function in Pala on May 9 last, official sources said.
They said a government servant cannot raise such issues at public function and instead should have taken them up at the department-level.
A section of KSRTC employees staged a demonstration here protesting against the supension of Thomas.
In his speech, Thomas had allegedly said KSRTC was unable to properly operate its services in Pala due to shortage of drivers, conductors and mechanics.
