Kochi: Immigration officials at the airport
here on Monday detained a Sri Lankan national, who had been
deported from Dubai, for allegedly travelling on a fake Indian
passport.

30-year-old Vasanthan left for Dubai en route to Paris via

Immigration authorities in Dubai questioned the man, who
confessed of belonging to Jaffna in Sri Lanka.

He held a passport in the name of Palanivelu, which was

The detainee said he reached Chennai as a refugee during
the internal strife in the island nation and managed to get a
passport in the name of Palanivelu and left for Paris with it.

Vasanthan has been handed over to the police and

connection, the security agency said.

Cases will be filed against him for violation of Passport
