Thiruvananthapuram: While the Congress apex leadership has given a cautious response to the Suryanelli gangrape case involving PJ Kurien, its senior leader and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi has kicked up a fresh row over the case by making a sexist remark at a female reporter.

According to reports, the Union Minister lost his cool and made very personal and sexist remarks at a female reporter who was seeking his reaction over Kurien’s alleged role in the Suryanelli gang-rape case.

Ravi was also caught on camera making a personal swipe at a female reporter over the infamous 1996 gang-rape case.

In the video, Ravi is seen asking the reporter if she has had a personal problem with Kurien.
When the reporter sought his opinion, Ravi said, "Do you have anything personal against Kurien? I am sure you do. Has something happened between you and him in the past?"
The Union Minister’s remarks sparked an outrage in Kerala where women journalists took to streets to express their anger and displeasure over the incident.

However, Ravi later offered his apology to the reporter.
