Swine flu: 15 positive cases in Kerala

With swine flu infections recurring in Kerala, the state authorities today put the number of positive cases at 15 even as they stepped up preventive and awarness campaign across the districts.

put the number of positive cases at 15 even as they stepped up
preventive and awarness campaign across the districts.

While 15 patients were under hospital quarantine,
another 47 persons were underoing treatment at their homes, a
press note issued by the swine flu monitoring cell of the
Health Department said.

Throat swabs of 65 patients have been sent for testing
since yesterday, they said.
The Department said no death has been reported since
June 7 when two women from Kollam succumbed to the virus
infection in the Medical College Hospital here.

The district-wise break-up of positive cases was
Kozhikode six, Thiruvananthapuram five and Kollam and
Malappuram two each.
Since the outbreak of swine flu last year, 46 persons
have died in Kerala.

Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had yesterday said that
the district medical authorities had been instructed to focus
on tackling the situation arising out of infectious diseases.
Civic bodies had also been roped in for mosquito-control
and garbage removal drives.
