Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh opposition leader Ajay Singh today met Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and submitted to him a memorandum demanding action against the state unit BJP president Prabhat Jha and Minister of state in Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, Harishankar Khateek, for allegedly backing a minor`s marriage in Tikamgarh district.

The Congress leader also took along with him parents of Mithila, who is said to be the first wife of Ramesh to whom the minor Angoori Bai was allegedly married with on April 24, to meet Yadav.

Ajay told reporters that Jha and Khateek committed not one but two offences and "ruined" lives of two women.

Congress MLA from Tikamgarh, Yadvendra, who also accompanied Ajay, said they had met the district collector and sought action against Jha and Khateek.

Yadvendra said that in case the collector did not take any action, the Congress would approach court.

Ajay had last week appealed to BJP president Nitin Gadkari to sack Jha from the post and sought action against the minister of state, Harishankar Khateek, for allegedly distributing invitation cards for the marriage of Angoori Bai.

The purported wedding is said to have taken place on April 24 at Tapiriyan village in Bundelkhnad region of the state.

According to Ajay, the wedding cards bore names of Khateek and Jha.
