I-T raids at IAS couple`s Bhopal residence

Cash amounting to Rs 3.1cr, jewellery and documents of properties disproportionate to their known sources of income were recovered from an IAS couple.

Bhopal: Cash amounting to Rs 3.1 crore, jewellery and documents of properties disproportionate to their known sources of income were recovered from an IAS couple in an income tax raid at their official residence in posh 74-Bungalows area here, officials said today.
While Arvind Joshi is Principal Secretary (Jail), his wife Tinu is Principal Secretary (Women and Child Development).

The raid is still going on at Joshi`s place and also at 12 other places including the residences of retired IAS officer M A Khan and two engineers, ICICI Prudential Insurance company officials, agents and a few businessmen, Income Tax (I-T) officials said today.

The I-T Department had to take help of currency counting machines for counting the cash recovered from various places, they said.

Besides Bhopal, raids were also conducted at the residences of IAS officer B L Agrawal in Raipur and his relatives and persons associated with him.
