Madhya Pradesh HC widens ambit of Jha commission

on Thursday directed the state to provide competent police personnel
in two weeks to the Jha Commission, which is probing the issue
of fake registry on the basis of which compensation has been
taken away by ineligible persons.

The bench also widened the ambit of the Jha Commission
directing it to also probe the alleged massive corruption
and irregularities in relief and rehabilitation work carried
out for the oustees of Sardar Sarvor Project(SSP)in the state.

A division bench of High Court comprising the Chief
Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Sanjay Yadav gave these
directions while hearing an application of Narmada Bachao
Andolan (NBA), demanding that Jha Commission`s ambit should be
widened, among other things.

The NBA`s application stated that the ambit of Justice
S S Jha Commission set up on August 21 last year should be
widened.
