Man killed at Congress leader's family function in MP

A man was killed during a celebratory firing during an engagement ceremony in Muhara area here, police said Thursday.

Tikamgarh: A man was killed during a celebratory firing during an engagement ceremony in Muhara area here, police said Thursday.

Ramkumar Raikar, 28, died on the spot after he was hit by a stray bullet fired by two persons, in an inebriated condition, during the engagement ceremony of Vaibhav Tiwari, son of local Congress leader Rajendra Tiwari, last night in Muhara area, around 40 kms from here, Jatara area Sub-Divisional Officer of Police, N Parihar, told PTI.

 The two accused have been identified as Lalu Yadav and Chandu Ahirwar and a case has been lodged against them under IPC section 302 (murder). A hunt has been launched to arrest them, he said.

 The accused fled from the scene after the incident, Parihar added.

 The shooting incident took place at a time when code of conduct for civic polls is underway here, under which it is mandatory to deposit licensed fire arms with respective police stations.
