Bhopal: The bypolls held in Madhya Pradesh witnessed heavy turnout of voters with rain-hit Tendukheda Assembly seat in Narsinghpur district recording as high as 69 per cent voting while 55.28 per cent voters exercised their right to franchise in Gohad in Bhind district.
The final polling figures of yesterday`s bypoll were provided by the state Election Office today.

"Tendukheda recorded 69 per cent polling while in Gohad it was 55.28 per cent," Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sanjay Dube told reporters.

However, polling was not held in 41 booths of Tendukheda as poll-parties failed to reach at the designated booths due to heavy rains.

The Election Commission will take a decision on holding polls in these booths soon, Dube said.

In case they are not held before September 14, the day of counting, then the Commission may extend the date of counting of votes, he said.

The polling figure in Tendukheda is likely to go up further once the polling in remaining booths are held.

Congress has fielded Ranveer Singh Jatav from Gohad while BJP has banked upon Sobran Singh Jatav.

In Tendukheda, Congress relied on Vishwanath Patel while BJP fielded Bhaiyaram Patel.
