Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government on Monday appointed 1980-batch IPS officer Surendra Singh as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state.
"Singh will take charge of his new assignment on October 1, as the current DGP Nandan Dube retires from service tomorrow," a senior state government official said.
The state government issued the appointment order today.
Prior to his appointment as the DGP, Singh had been appointed the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) on September 18.
Singh had also served as the Director General of Prisons before his elevation as OSD at the PHQ.
