75 percent voter turnout for eight gram panchayats in Maharashtra

 Approximately 75 percent people today exercised their franchise for elections to eight gram panchayats in four districts of Thane, Nashik, Solapur and Osmanabad.

Mumbai: Approximately 75 percent people today exercised their franchise for elections to eight gram panchayats in four districts of Thane, Nashik, Solapur and Osmanabad.

State Election Commissioner J S Saharia said the election schedule for 14 gram panchayats, the tenure of which ends in October and November, had been announced last month.

Out of the 14, polling took place in eight as nomination forms were not received in some, while at few other places the candidates were elected unopposed.

The counting of votes will take place on October 20.
