Mumbai: The Army has filed an FIR against
unidentified persons for allegedly submitting a forged no
objection certificate (NOC) to the local civic body, granting
permission to access the restricted area outside Central
Ordnance Depot here, police said today.

The restricted area is a 10-metre patch near COD`s
compound wall in suburban Malad and is usually used for
patrolling by army personnel, the complainant and COD`s
Security Officer Vivekanand Kanchi said.

"However, a forged NOC letter with a Senior Army
Officer`s signature recently reached the BrihanMumbai
Municipal Corporation (BMC) granting permission to allow the
usage of the restricted area for the common people," Senior
Inspector in Dindoshi Police Station V M Kakade told PTI.

Such an NOC was never issued by the army authorities,
Kanchi said in the complaint.

The FIR in this regard was registered last week under
IPC Sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of
cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 420
(cheating) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance
of common intention) against unidentified persons by the army,
Kakade said.
