BJP MP Kirit Somaiya booked for assaulting a cop in Mumbai

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya has been booked for allegedly manhandling a policeman at Navghar Police Station in Mumbai.

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kirit Somaiya has been booked for allegedly manhandling a policeman at Navghar Police Station here.

Reports say that the incident happened when the BJP MP was called to the police station on August 21 for an enquiry related to a case filed against him and his supporters for clashing with NCP workers.
Police Inspector Satpal Munde, who was investigating the matter had called Somaiya to the police station where the BJP MP had an argument with the officer and allegedly slapped him.

The police have registered a case against Somaiya for assaulting a cop on duty.
As per reports, an FIR under IPC section 333, 353 and 506, has been registered against the BJP MP.

It is being said that initially Somaiya`s supporters came to the police station, after which he arrived for the enquiry at 3 pm and a ruckus was created at the scene. Thereafter, a probe was carried out and subsequently a case was filed against him.
