BoR doesn`t need new board: CEO

Mumbai: Amidst speculation that the Reserve
Bank may revamp the board of the crisis-ridden Bank of
Rajasthan (BoR), its Chief Executive on Thursday said the existing
board is well-equipped to navigate the bank out of the stormy
waters.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer G
Padmanabhan, who is also one of the five RBI nominees on the
BoR board, said today that the present board is capable of
driving the bank`s operations.

Padmanabhan further said the chances of the apex bank
revamping the board at this stage are unlikely. "The Reserve
Bank already has five persons on the board. So now, perhaps,
it is the regulator`s perception that whatever they have done
is adequate."

Executive Director KK Sharma also opined that there is
no need to reshuffle the existing board as it has the
"expertise and experience" to take the bank ahead on its
growth journey. "The present board members are well
experienced and capable of handling all situations. I
personally do not feel that there is any need for the central
bank to revamp the current board," Sharma said.

Out of the total 16 board members, five are nominated by
the RBI and they include two independent directors and two
additional directors.
