Cong to take decision on leadership after polls: Digvijay

Congress General secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday said that a decision on the leadership issue in Maharashtra and Haryana will be taken by the elected MLAs after the assembly elections.

Guna (MP): Congress General secretary
Digvijay Singh on Sunday said that a decision on the leadership
issue in Maharashtra and Haryana will be taken by the elected
MLAs after the assembly elections.

"Congress will elect its leader after the polls by taking
the opinion of the elected members, which is the party`s
tradition," Singh said to a query on whether the incumbent
Chief Ministers will be re-elected as the Congress Legislature
Party (CLP) leader in the event of party coming back to power.

Singh, who was addressing reporters in his home town
Raghogarh, said the situation of Congress and its alliance
partners in the poll-bound states was good and the party will
form its government after the polls.

Referring to the recent by-poll victory of Lalu Prasad
Yadav`s party in Bihar, he said that the senior leader should
continue to expand his party`s base and added that the
Congress will never forget that he is also a good friend.

Asked whether those holding positions in government as
well as the party should resign from one of the two posts,
Singh said barring few exceptions others should follow the
principle of "one man one post" and resign from their posts in
the organisation.

Singh, who arrived in Raghogarh on a three day visit cut
short his programme on the instructions of the party high
command and headed to Mumbai via Bhopal.
