Congress, NCP join hands to corner BJP govt in Maharashtra monsoon session

Opposition Congress and NCP will launch a joint offensive against Devendra Fadnavis government on various issues including allegations of impropriety surrounding some of its top ministers and suicides by farmers, in the upcoming monsoon session of the state legislature.

Mumbai: Opposition Congress and NCP will launch a joint offensive against Devendra Fadnavis government on various issues including allegations of impropriety surrounding some of its top ministers and suicides by farmers, in the upcoming monsoon session of the state legislature.

Senior leaders of both the parties, the erstwhile ruling partners, met in evening here to chalk out the collective strategy to be put into force during the session, to be held from July 13 to 31.

"Both the parties have decided to unite in attacking the government on floor of both the Houses. We are discussing the issues to be taken up to expose government," Congress Group Leader in the Legislative Council Manikrao Thakre told PTI.

The state unit Congress chief Ashok Chavan, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, besides Thakre, met senior NCP leaders Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde and party Group Leader in Assembly Jayant Patil to finalise the strategy.

BJP ministers Pankaja Munde and Vinod Tawde are facing allegations of financial irregularities in awarding contracts for various articles by violating the norms.

Additionally, Tawde and the Water Supplies Minister Babanrao Lonikar are facing allegations of fake educational degrees.
