Mumbai: Three wagons of a goods train heading to Daulatabad from Nhava Shewa port close to Mumbai derailed near Igatpuri station on Monday morning.

However, the movement of other trains was not affected as they were diverted on two additional lines.

"Three wagons of a rake that was heading from Nhava Shewa to Daulatabad derailed at around 6.35 am. When the train was entering into the periphery of Igatpuri yard, the 12th, 13th and 14th wagons derailed," Chief PRO of Central Railway Narendra Patil said.

"Since the up and middle lines were free, the other trains were diverted on those lines. So, the operations of up and down trains were not affected," he said.

He further said, "Just after getting the information, our team reached the spot and launched efforts to restore the operation. The first wagon was re-railed at 10.50 am."

The cause of the derailment would be ascertained only after an inquiry, he said.
