The downpour in Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts
during winter season has adversely affected standing crops,
grapes and cotton, sources in the Directorate of Agriculture
here said today.

Reports from North and West Maharashtra said the rains
have caused damage to `tur` dal and `jowar` in some regions
including Khandesh.

In the powerloom town of Malegaon, grapes in 200 hectares
in Yesgaon, Ajande villages were severely damaged causing loss
of export quality grapes to the tune of crores of rupees,
officials said.

"Grapes developed cracks and bunches started falling
on the grounds in Malegaon. Pomegranates, onions, corns, and
other crops are also damaged due to the unseasonal rain,"
they said.
