Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee chief and MLA Kripashankar Singh has sent a legal notice to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray for alleged defamation.

Mumbai: Mumbai Pradesh Congress Committee
chief and MLA Kripashankar Singh has sent a legal notice to
Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and party member and editor of
Marathi daily `Saamna` Sanjay Raut for alleged defamation.

In the notice, Singh has claimed that since February
7, several news articles have been published in `Saamna`, the
party mouthpiece, which had been "defamatory, false and
frivolous".

"The articles talk about how Singh has stashed away Rs
100 crores in several banks and has several properties. Before
publishing the said articles, you (Saamna) have not obtained
any information or clarification from Singh. The said stories
are false and have been published with a view to defame Singh
and to get advantage to the political party Shiv Sena," the
notice said.

Demanding an apology to be published within three
days, Singh has threatened to file a civil suit of defamation
demanding Rs 10 crore damage.
