Maharashtra: Income limit for scholarship to minority students raised

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday increased the annual income limit for scholarships to students belonging to minority communities from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs six lakh.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday increased the annual income limit for scholarships to students belonging to minority communities from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs six lakh.

Making a statement in the Assembly, Minority Affairs Minister Eknath Khadse said the previous government had fixed the income limit for students belonging to minority communities for admissions in higher technical and professional courses to Rs 2.5 lakh.

"We have increased it to Rs six lakh. As many as 40,000 students currently get scholarship of Rs 25,000 annually. Due to the latest decision, the number of students to benefit due to this decision will increase," he added.
