Maharashtra legislators vote in Presidential poll

As many as 274 MLAs and nine MPs cast their votes to elect the President of India at the Vidhan Bhavan here on Thursday.

Mumbai: As many as 274 MLAs and nine MPs cast their votes to elect the President of India at the Vidhan Bhavan here on Thursday.

However, 12 members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), K P Patil of the Congress and Suresh Jain of the Shiv Sena did not vote.

Members of Parliament Sanjay Raut, Anil Desai, Harishchandra Chavan, Y P Trivedi, Shivaji Adhalrao Patil, Gajanan Babar, Pratap Sonavane, Anand Paranjype and Sanjiv Naik voted in Mumbai.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan did not vote as he is member of the legislative council. The total strength of the legislative assembly is 288. Counting of votes will be taken up on Sunday.
