Maharashtra: School girl abducted, abused; one arrested

A 29-year-old man from Bhiwandi taluka here has been arrested for allegedly abducting and abusing a teenage girl on her way to school, police said on Wednesday.

Thane: A 29-year-old man from Bhiwandi taluka here has been arrested for allegedly abducting and abusing a teenage girl on her way to school, police said on Wednesday.

The accused, Nasif Imtiaz Momin, was arrested last night after he kidnapped the girl on October 11 from an autorickshaw which ferried her to an Urdu school, EN Kharik of Bhiwandi taluka police station told a news agency.

Momin allegedly barged into the rickshaw around 7 am and pushed the girl out before jumping out of the vehicle between Bhiwandi and Padga petrol pump area. Then he abducted the victim and took her to an isolated place in a tempo and held her captive for a while.

The vagabond allegedly abused the girl and pressurised her to marry him. When she started weeping, the accused dropped her back near her house in Auchitpada on the same day itself around noon, a complaint registered by the girl's parents yesterday, said.

Momin was charged under Sections 363 and 323 of the IPC and subsequently arrested. The POCSA Act would be added subsequently after investigations are over, police said.
