Man clubbed to death in Thane

Thane: A 55-year-old man from Sahapur taluka
here was brutally murdered when he tried playing peacemaker to
a warring couple, police said today.

Maruti Suresh Pawar (25) and wife Anita were quarrelling
on a road in Savroili Budruk village when victim Kama Padu
Maje tried to intervene and stop the man, who was allegedly
beating her, last evening, ASI D N Salunke of Sahapur police
station said.

Annoyed, the husband hit the victim with a big grind
stone and later clubbed him to death, police said.

Maruti was arrested shortly before midnight and was
charged under section 302 of the IPC, they said.
