Man held for molesting teenaged daughter in Maharashtra

A 40-year-old vegetable vendor was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually harassing his teenaged daughter here, police said on Monday.

Thane: A 40-year-old vegetable vendor was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually harassing his teenaged daughter here, police said on Monday.

The accused, a habitual drinker, had been molesting his 16-year-old daughter when she was alone at their Ghodbunder Road home here for last four years, Kasarwadavali assistant police inspector Dinkar Chandankar said quoting the girl's complaint.

On September 17, the man again molested the girl.

The offence came to light when she was rushed to a hospital for injuries.

Subsequently, based on her complaint, the accused was arrested last evening.

The girl was taken to Thane Civil Hospital late last night for medical examination, the police officer said.

The accused had been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and other relevant sections of the IPC and sections 3, 4, 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, police said.
